FWHR Awards Night

Join us for our first Awards Night on Saturday November 16 at the River Crest Country Club ballroom. It begins at 6pm. Why River Crest on a Saturday evening? Because you deserve a break from the weekly hustle and bustle. You've earned a leisurely night out, especially since you're free from work. (Don't go back to work Saturday night.) Meet your friends and their guests in a totally new atmosphere that will be instantly memorable. Hug our award winners as they shed tears and happily embrace you. Inappropriate? Handshakes work too, but only if you're there.

We are excited to host this new event for all of you. See you there.

Member Spotlight: Agnieszka McCoy

#FWHR interviewed Agnieszka for October's Member Spotlight! Read more about her below.

Q: What do you do for a living?

A: I'm a Total Rewards and Benefits manager at Clarus. I support and focus on initiatives related to the Total Rewards & Benefits strategy for the company and help create a Total Rewards & Benefits statement explaining to the employees the value of being a Clarus employee. I identify opportunities to improve and streamline our processes for HRIS, benefits, payroll, on boarding and overall productivity and compliance. I absolutely love my job and our employees!

Q: Where are you from and how did you come to live in Fort Worth?

A: I was born and raised in Poland, near Krakow. I came to the U.S. during my graduate studies on a work and travel program. I met my husband over the summer and began a long-distance relationship, where we would travel back and forth to see each other. After three years, I received my Master's Degree in Management and moved to Fort Worth where my husband lived. We just celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary.

Q: How did you first get involved in Fort Worth HR?

A: I was invited to go along with my VP to one of the Fort Worth HR Legal Updates. I found it very informative and now try to attend one every month to help keep up with things.

Q: What do you enjoy the most about being a member of Fort Worth HR?

A: I love coming to the monthly Legal Updates and luncheons. There have been so many great speakers this past year! I seem to learn something new every time and enjoy meeting interesting HR professionals.

Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in Human Resources?

A: I enjoy helping people, talking to our employees, getting to know them, and guiding them through our benefits system. I have always had a passion for healthcare and someday hope to be part of the solution of a better healthcare system for everyone.

Q: What hobbies or interests do you have outside of work?

A: I really love to travel, especially to places I haven't visited yet. It's wonderful to get to know new people and new cultures. I used to travel a lot before my husband and I started a family and hopefully, now that the kids are getting older, we can start exploring again soon.

Q: What are your favorite places to go and things to do?

A: I love spending time in nature with my husband and our three kids. I grew up hiking in the Polish mountains and visiting the seaside, which I miss. We try to spend as much time as possible outdoors in the fresh air. I also enjoy cooking a variety of different meals, and of course eating good food!

Q: How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

A: Adventurous, inquisitive, and empathetic.

Q: What is an accomplishment you are proud of but would never put on a resume?

A: I was very apprehensive when I decided to attend college again, here in Texas. I had to take an English Composition class, which I was afraid I would have a problem passing - English is not my native language. I ended up finishing with the highest grade in the class!

Emerging HR Professional of the Month: Jamie Sager, SHRM-CP

Jamie Sager is FWHR's October Emerging HR Professional of the month. She is an HR Generalist at Ben E. Keith in Fort Worth. Prior to her role there, Jamie was an HR Coordinator at DR Horton.

Jamie received her Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Development from Texas A&M. There, she was introduced to Fort Worth HR when researching HR organizations in the area. "I joined when I was in college. I was going to be home for breaks and wanted to learn more about HR". Jamie was inspired to pursue a career in HR from other students, professors, and professionals at Texas A&M. She eventually switched her major to HR and has been inspired to make a difference in other peoples lives ever since!

We asked Jamie what she's passionate about. "Texas A&M, Building relationships, Jesus, and good tacos!" She loves to try new restaurants, travel, work out (shout out to Camp Gladiator), and spend time with her parents and two wonderful Golden Doodle puppies. As a native Fort Worthian, Jamie hopes to continue growing in her HR career. She's also planning her wedding in June!

When Jamie isn't skydiving, you can find her and her fiancé at Watermark Community Church or at a FWHR luncheon. Please thank her for her contributions to Fort Worth HR when you see her next time!

Congrats to Our 2019 HRSW Student Scholarship Recipient: Michaela Bradshaw, SHRM-CP

Michaela Bradshaw is an emerging HR professional who is passionate about empowering people through information and resources. Her top skills are establishing relationships, crafting communications, analyzing situations, and developing integrated solutions. Michaela began her career as a university admission counselor after obtaining her undergraduate degree in Strategic Communication from Texas Christian University. Although Michaela gained exposure to human resources during an internship with Cash America International, she officially transitioned into the industry in 2017 when she joined GM Financial  as a Talent Advisor. In this role, she partnered with HR business partners, compensation analysts, and operational leaders to deliver an exceptional candidate experience while meeting hiring needs.

In 2018, Michaela's curiosity about the HR industry inspired her to obtain the SHRM-CP certification. Shortly afterwards, Michaela promoted to the University Relations team where she spearheaded strategic initiatives for the Customer Experience line of business. She later contributed to GM Financial's first Fort Worth based employee resource group as a committee lead. Most recently, Michaela's thirst for knowledge led her to the University of Texas at Arlington Master of Business Administration cohort- a distinctive program that is characterized by 5-week accelerated courses. As she works to obtain her MBA, Michaela is eager to gain experience in additional HR functions to broaden her skillsets, leverage her strengths, to develop her leadership capabilities. Join us in congratulating Michaela on her wonderful accomplishment!

FWHR Volunteer Event: Tarrant Area Food Bank

Members of Fort Worth HR joined with other Fort Worth volunteers on Saturday, October 19th, volunteering for Quality Control (QC) at Tarrant Area Food Bank's distribution center.

Donated food products were sorted, inspected, and repacked for distribution to a network of partner organizations in a 13-county area. For FWHR's shift volunteers packed a total of 11,169 pounds of food!

Volunteers in QC make a BIG impact by helping to ensure that our neighbors in need receive safe, quality food. FWHR and other volunteers made approximately 9,308 meals for the families that Tarrant Area Food Bank serves.
