Mental Health in the Workplace will provide participants with a better understanding of internal and external factors that contribute to job stress and anxiety. Participants will learn strategies for assisting employees in addressing symptoms of anxiety and burnout in the workplace.

Learning objectives:

  • Define job stress, anxiety and burnout in the workplace

  • Increase understanding of how racism and COVID-19 can impact stress and anxiety levels

  • Discuss strategies for addressing stress and anxiety of employees


Presented by Sarah Spain

Sarah Spain, Ph.D., ABPP, is a Clinical Director of an outpatient mental health team at the Fort Worth VA Outpatient Clinic and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. After earning her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Florida, she completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Cleveland VA Medical Center. Dr. Spain has been employed at the North Texas VA Healthcare System since 2009 and is Board Certified in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Spain’s clinical focus is on cognitive-behavioral psychotherapeutic interventions. Her other areas of interest include training, teaching and diversity/cultural issues.
